Best known as the Mighty Eagle of Rovio, Peter Vesterbacka has been listed among the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME magazine. After having worked on Angry Birds for multiple years, Vesterbacka left Rovio in 2016 for the role of Brand Breaker at Lightneer, which he co-founded in 2015. Thanks to his many business ventures at SLUSH, MobileMonday and Lightneer among many others, Vesterbacka is regarded by many as the father of the Nordic start-up revolution. This trailblazer is the one you do not want to miss. In his own words: "Nothing can stop us from being the best in the world, if we only want it".
After graduating from the Helsinki School of Economics in 1997 with a Master's in organisation and management, Mervi Pänkäläinen went on to found Mightifier in 2015. Mightifier is a positive education application and method to help students master their social and emotional skills. She created Mightifier alongside Finnish students and teachers. The app has been certified by EdTech and has won numerous prizes such as first place at SLUSH Japan 2016. Today Pänkäläinen works as the CEO of Mightifier and is known for her innovative approach, positive interaction and encouraging personality. Look out for her sparkling dialogue on the main stage.
Around the age of 22, Riku Asikainen founded two companies one of which was a bookstore for high school students in Finland. He then went on to spend three years as a voluntary consultant in Tanzania in the beginning of the 2000's. Soon afterwards he spent another three years in France, where he founded the largest textbook distributor in the country. His career as an angel investor took off after he sold his bookstore in Finland to Sanoma WSOY. Today Asikainen is the best known in Finland for his role as an investor on the show Shark Tank (Leijonan luola). We are excited to be there when this driven investor shares his ideas ans experiences on the main stage of FallUp 2018.
Henrietta Kekäläinen is the Co-founder and CEO of Carbo Culture, a company using a novel thermochemical way to convert waste biomass to high value biochar. Previously, she co-founded Mehackit.org, which brings peer mentored creative technology courses to schools with visual arts, programming, robotics and music. She is a 2013 alumna of Singularity University’s flagship Global Solutions Program, and has received the Ruby Hero award. She’s one of the “32 Coolest Women in Nordic Tech 2018” and one of the IMAGE heroes of 2017 in Finland, and elected as a World Economic Forum global shaper. Kim describes himself as a roll-up-your-sleeves kind of guy. Having climbed numerous mountains and completed a couple of Ironmans all while founding his own company, working in sales and marketing and raising three daughters, we have to agree. His work and hobbies have taken him around the world to 62 different countries. His expertise lies in sales development, team building coaching and relationships. Currently Kim is working as a board member at his own company, Summit Ventures Oy, which operates CrossFit 8000. In addition, he is promoting himself as The Sales Guy and helps entrepreneurs with growing their businesses. Having summited Mount Manaslu standing at 8163m, we are confident Kim will have no problem climbing the FallUp stage in October!
